Thurleigh Environmental Improvement Network - End of Year Report

2014 has been another busy year for the group, 10 broken or missing way markers have been replaced, all supplies and tools provided by the Borough Council. On many occasions we could be seen trudging through fields with a full wheelbarrow, a tool or post over the men's shoulders or being carried between two ladies. During the year the Parish Council kindly purchased a brush-cutter for our use and this enabled more clearance work than usually possible to be undertaken.

The popular permissive path round the reservoir has been cut back twice, FP51 from Keysoe Road to FP1 and FP57 near the back of the playing field towards Cross End Lane were cleared. The steps to the girder bridge on FP4 is now passable again. Ian also managed to negotiate with the Borough Council ROW officer for them to clear the long standing overgrown section of FP6.

Ian and Richard have continued to work alongside the Borough Council and other volunteers keeping paths clear in other North Beds Villages, which we feel has helped in getting assistance when required in Thurleigh.

Work will start again in 2015 as soon as the spring weather permits and we already have a report of a broken way marker on FP10 to which we have promised priority.

If anybody wishes to contact us either to report any problems or join our small band - we assure you it is not all hard work we do have fun and show the photos of both to prove it - you can contact us through our section the website www.thurleigh.net
